Hourly Invoiced Services

Hourly Invoiced Services are those services that are billed purely based on the amount of time spent working on a given project. The basic rate is $200/hr. With a one hour minimum and billed in half hour increments thereafter. If the work to be done was quoted as a project and came with a time estimate the per hour rate changes depending on the estimated time according to the following table and a non-refundable deposit may be required.

Hours Estimated Hourly Rate Deposit
1.0 - 9.5 200.00 n/a
10.0 - 19.5 180.00 50%
20.0 - 29.5 170.00 50%
30.0 - 39.5 160.00 50%
40.0 - 49.5 150.00 50%
50.0 - 59.5 140.00 50%
60.0 + 130.00 20%-50%*

For estimates given as ranges where the range spans two of the break points in the above chart the point in the middle of the estimate is used to determine the deposit. Thus a range of 7-12 hours would be calculated as 9.5 hours and no deposit would be required. But if the range was 8-12 hours the mid point is 10 hours and an $875 deposit would be required.

If the estimate placed the hourly rate at one break point but the actual time spent on the project was in a different break point then the true cost of the project will be calculated based on the actual time and that rate multiplied by the actual hours minus the deposit paid will be the balance due. So in the case of our above example where the $875 deposit was paid, if the project really only took 7 hours that would make the total 7 * $200 or $1,400 and the balance due would be only $525.

*NOTE: For projects estimated at 80 hours or more the deposit will be handled on a case by case basis and a deposit of at least 20% will usually be required and additional payments may be required at various milestones during the project. Such milestones may be based on time, or on the completion of various phases or portions of the project. This is especially important for projects that will span across months because it is often impractical for cash flow reasons to wait 3 months to get paid for work that we are doing during that three month period.

Please don't forget that time billed is not the same as actual time that passes. It is completely possible for a project that is billed as only 40 hours, which you might think could be done in a week based on the number of hours, might take more than a month before it was completed because there may be various factors that only allow us to work on the project for a short period at a time, such as scheduling conflicts, or situations where we have to wait for you or other parties involved in the project to deliver certain materials, or answer certain questions, or make decisions before we can continue working, or before we can work on a given part of the project. And on the other hand there may be a 40 hour project that is completed in a few days, because we were able to have extra people work on it, or we were able to work late hours, etc.
